Empowering Girls in South Sudan

This December, WAM proudly supported the I Am Empowered Girls Workshop in Juba, South Sudan, led by Empowered Girls Africa. Over the course of the program, girls from diverse communities came together in a safe, uplifting environment to explore their dreams, build confidence, and share ideas about their futures. More than a training, this workshop was a vibrant space where young girls laughed, learned, and began to craft meaningful plans for their personal, academic, and community lives.

Throughout the week, participants engaged in hands-on activities that encouraged creativity and practical skills development, celebrated emerging leaders, and fostered peer encouragement. Girls were seen expressing themselves freely, collaborating on projects, and discovering new confidence in their voices and visions. The atmosphere was described as powerful and hopeful, laying a foundation for continued growth and mentorship even after the workshop concluded.

This initiative reflects our commitment to empowering the next generation of women leaders by helping girls in South Sudan stand strong in their self-worth, resist societal pressures, and pursue their goals with courage. Through opportunities like this workshop, participants are learning to lead, to support each other, and to envision futures filled with possibility. We celebrate the impact of this collaboration and look forward to seeing how these incredible girls continue to transform their communities.

When you give generously to WAM, you make workshops like these possible for young women in difficult circumstances. Your generosity truly is an instrument of hope, paving the way to a brighter tomorrow.

Your gift enables our response.
