the war in lebanon

The October 7th, 2023, attack on Israel by Hamas had far-reaching consequences. Skirmishes between Israel and Hezbollah along Israel’s border with Lebanon escalated into a full-scale war within Lebanon, causing widespread destruction. The conflict resulted in over 4,000 Lebanese deaths and more than 17,000 injuries. At its peak, the war led to mass displacement, affecting 1.5 million people across Lebanon.

Conflict in the region resulted in a reduction in available humanitarian aid. WAM continues to stand in the gap, seeing to the needs of war-displaced families and returnees.

Our response includes emergency food parcels, hygiene kits, fresh produce, and mattresses, pillows, and blankets for displaced families who are:

  • sleeping on bare floors,
  • living in garages and storage units,
  • crowded into small apartments with extended family, and
  • returning to damaged homes and villages.

WAM has provided temporary shelter, hot meals, home repairs, and medical aid to families suffering the impacts of war.
